Psychoneurosis - Psychoneurosis Symptom, Cause, Treatment
The psychoneurosis are minor mental disorder characterized by inner struggles and disturbed social relationship. Neuroses are characterized by anxiety, depression, or other feelings of unhappiness or distress that are out of proportion to the circumstances of a person's life . The clinical picture of the hysterical psychoneurosis is then defined taking into account personality on one side and symptoms on the other. Dependence, sexual behavior disturbances, agressivity, effects of identification and repression are considered characteristics of this personality. Many men gave the history that their skin trouble began only after their nervous symptoms, and that any exacerbation of the latter seemed to make their skins worse. On this basis the author intends to distinguish hysteria from normality, from fobic and obsessive neurosis, from schizophrenic, manic-depressive and paranoic psychosis; from traumatic and actual neurosis and from psychosomatic diseases and epilepsy. Two essential features of psychoneurosis are that they are precipitated by emotional stresses, conflicts and frustrations and that they are most effectively treated by psychological techniques. They are not produced by physical disorders and do not respond to routine medical attention.
Symptoms of Psychoneurosis
Some common Symptoms of Psychoneurosis :
- anxiety,
- inability to concentrate, or make decisions, memory disturbances,
- gastrointestinal disturbances and
- fatigue,
Causes of Psychoneurosis
The common causes of Psychoneurosis :
- Neurogenic claudication is off and on seen in patients having spinal canal stenosis.
- Other causes include animal and vegetable parasite infections which tend to cause pruritus public rather than prutitus vulvae, conditions of the urinary track like continence of urine and pyuria.
- High heeled shoes worn by young Bahraini men and women can cause pain in the calves.
- Upon reaching several other organs in the body, allergens can cause hives , eczema , lightheadedness, weakness, hypotension , etc.
- Thus, the psychological aspects of Darwin's illness might be both a cause and an effect of Darwin's illness.
Treatment of Psychoneurosis
- The psychoanalytic approach involves helping the patient to become aware of the repressed impulses, feelings, and traumatic memories that underlie his symptoms, thereby enabling him to achieve personality growth through a better and deeper self-understanding.
- Treatments like neem water vaginal douches help kill bacteria and fungus.
- The patient should avoid all processed, refined and denatured foods such as white sugar, white flour and all products made from them as well a s coffee, tea, eggs, meat, spicy and oily foods.
