Mysophilia - Mysophilia Symptom, Cause, Treatment
Mysophilia is a paraphilia relating to soiled or dirty material or people. It is sometimes also used for coprophilia , coprophagia , and fecophilia . There are a number of variants of this:
- Pornographic magazines have long contained advertisements for "used" women's underwear .
- Some find the dirty footwear of the sex to which they are attracted erotic.
- Some gay men find other men's soiled underwear or dirty training shoe s erotic.
Symptoms of Mysophilia
Mysophilia is a fetish and also known as a paraphilia in which one is sexually aroused by being physically dirty or being in dirty surroundings. Mysophilia comes from the Greek word "mysos" meaning "defilement," and the Greek word "philos" meaning "fond." Put the two words together and you have "fond (of) defilement." Defilement means to make unclean or unpure. Sometimes, the interest and attraction to filth and poop takes on a sexual component and leads to sexual excitement.
Causes of Mysophilia
A paraphilia of the fetishistic/talismanic type in which sexuoerotic arousal and facilitation or attainment of orgasm are responsive to, and contingent onself-degradation and self-defilement by smelling, chewing or otherwise utilizing sweaty or soiled clothing or articles of menstrual hygiene [from Greek, mysos, uncleanness + -philia]
